What I'm Reading This Week

We’ve all read a lot this week. I finally got back into A Guide for the Perplexed: Werner Herzog.

(it’s a mammoth of a book!)

Besides that, there’s been the never-ending flurry of tweets, links and articles on that thing that’s going around. (Mis)Information overload.

I’m not here to share any more infographics, non-factual opinions or contribute to the pandemic panic. You know where to go for that.

Instead here are 5 ONLINE articles I RECOMMEND READing this week.

Guaranteed Covid-19 free.

1. On Negotiation via Inc

It’s unlikely you’ll be negotiating a new salary in the current economic climate. But this article is actually a crash-course for decoding any conversation. With these tactics, you can ensure you always get what you want.

2. GQ on Man’s First Time

A refreshing take on the all-important first time. I was first intro’d to this writer via his review of The Guardian blind dates. This article is the next evolution of those. With all this talk of being clean, this one's a bit dirty. Still SFW and even safer if you're WFH.

3. TIME 100 INT'L WOMENS DAY -- Who Run the world? Girls!

Time Magazine looked back on 72 years, by creating 89 new covers which featuring a broad spectrum of women ranging from Bell Hooks to Wallis Simpson, Virginia Hall and Woolf!. The project took months but the result is worth it. Read through to reflect on years past and credit due.

4. The Ultimate Roaring 20’s Cocktail Book

Launched in coordination with the ‘Bright Young Things’ exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery, comes a collection of cocktails from photographer Cecil Beaton. The portrait and war photog, was most famous for his fashion work in Vogue and Vanity fair. A true jack of all trades. With my bar cart stocked and my house empty, I’ll have to give one of these a go.

5. Virtual Tours of 12 Museums

I love museums. Always have.I had plans this weekend to hit up a few. I've even booked trips to far off destinations with the sole purpose of visiting a certain exhibition or museum. But that's all on hold now - try these virtual tours and escape the mundane.
